What is the definition of blood pressure? Blood pressure is the force of circulating blood against your artery walls when the heart is beating or resting between beats.

Low Blood Pressure Definition

Low blood pressure is when the force of your blood against your artery walls is consistently too low. The American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology do not identify a certain number for low blood pressure. Most medical experts like saying it’s a systolic number less than 90 mm Hg or a diastolic number less than 60 mm Hg.

Elevated Blood Pressure Definition

Elevated blood pressure is when the force of your blood against your artery walls is consistently above normal blood pressure and below high blood pressure. For your blood pressure to be considered elevated, your systolic number must be 120 – 129 mm Hg and your diastolic number less than 80 mm Hg.

Systolic Blood Pressure Definition

Systolic blood pressure is the force of your blood against your artery walls every time your heart beats pushing blood out. Systolic is the top number of your blood pressure reading. Therefore, a reading of 125/75, 125 is your systolic blood pressure.

High Systolic Blood Pressure Definition

High systolic blood pressure is when the force of your blood against your blood vessel walls is consistently too high when the heart beats. For your systolic blood pressure to be considered high, your systolic number must be 130 mm Hg or higher.

Low Systolic Blood Pressure Definition
